Home Sweet Home
Hey Guys,
I figure I should give you all a peek at what we call home out here on Oahu. If all goes as planned, there should be a little video of Ko Olina (our neighborhood) and some pics of the house. If any of you SDA designers are looking at this, yes, I know my house is one giant brown blob. David and I are having problems agreeing on accent colors. Not to mention finding money to buy some. So no laughing! :)
See http://www.koolina.com/ for more information or pictures of the Ko Olina resort.
So, without further ado, here is our home:
Our Bedroom
We have a guest room, but it is currently housing a guest, so no pics. Besides, we probably will have to get rid of all that stuff when we move.
So that's where we live. We love it - it is beautiful. Those of you who are thinking about coming to visit: COME BEFORE OCTOBER. We will be moving (and packing) all of Oct., and after that we will be living somewhere decidedly less cool, and probably without a guest room. So if you can, head on over before then. You won't regret it. And we need the company. It's a win-win.

Hi- I've never sent anybody a comment before on a blog-I'am 49 married with two boys Ryan 14 and Bryce 8 and a husband also named Dave-I'm a 4th generation californian and love the beach and mountain- I was raised in Lake Arrowhead CA-at 15 moved to Boulder Colorado and after high school I moved up to Gunnison Colo so I could ski and I taught ice skating and climbed 14 thousand foot mountains-after being a ski bum I decided to move back to Boulder to go to massage school-I was a vegetarian and enjoyed the healing arts-at 26 I meet my husband and moved to Cave Creek Arizona-I live up a beautiful canyon and have a small 10 acre ranch with 5 dogs-I'm telling you this so that you know alittle about me- since I read alot of your life-I found you because I'm a big Hawaii fan and go as much as I can-Last summer we rented a beautiful home looking over princeville in Kauai- which is our favorite island- I found you because I'm a geology head and map head-I love to know everything I can and I was looking up the vog in Hawaii and your site came up-a couple of years ago my family and I went to the big island and I was blown away by the air- I kept asking questions to the locals why is the air so gloom- finally someone told me the vog -I ask what's that-since I found out I want to know as much as possible where the trade winds blow etc etc- my husband and I want to buy a home in Kauai and I always try and find out if the vog goes that far-I still don't have my answer and maybe you might-I know all the other islands get vog and I'm wondering if Kauai on a bad day might get vog?-this last Feb my friend had a 50 b-day and wanted to go to Maui with a bunch of girs so we did- I've never left my kids before- but I have a wonderful housekeeper Sandra and my Husband to watch them so I left- it was a great time crazy stuff always happenes to me-we were on the plane and sat next to a x quaterback -he had a superbowl ring on so I ask him about it-well before you know it we became good friends with him- and before you know it were staying in his 13 story penthouse for the 10 days he said we could stay - I would normally never do that but we were like his big sisters-and he went there alone- he has a few friends because he has this penthouse for a month every year-the whales were jumping it was great-when he had dinner get togethers us 4 girls would do all the cooking for him to show our gratitude-it beat our time share-it was so funny we took over this guys place- and when I left I told him that I sat next to him coming to Maui and I said I will probably sit next to John Elway on the way back as a joke- hard to believe when I got to the airport John Elway was on my plane standing next to me- I called my friend and he said no way his not there- he said say hi to him from me so I did and shook his hand and told him that he was my all time favorite it was so great-but my quarterback friend is so sweet and kind I'm going to try and fix him up with my niece in Nashville who is a D.A. raised in Durango Colo who is a fabulous girl- anyway the first 5 days were great and the next 5 were like L.A. smog I had caught a bad virus on the plane and then breathing the vog it was so bad I had to go to the doctor to get some medicine for the cough- I go 25 hundred miles for the fresh air-and it's very sad to me that there is this natural pollution-since the volcano is opening more vents I'm always checking on it to see if I want to take the family this summer to Hawaii again or go somewhere else- maybe you could please tell me how many days out of the month are you getting those winds to Oahu that the vog is bad? I have to tell you that before and after picture of the vog you had on your site is the best picture I've ever scene of it Wow! did you take that picute?if so bravo to you- you two are so cute and what a nice couple -your kids will be very luchy someday-I have to say you've enlightend me - Ive done alot and scene alot and have been disappointed in the young people- they seem so selfish and arrogant and want to be a movie star or model or just rich with no effort to get there- you two seem so sweet and happy with your young start in life and enjoying each other I felt like that with my husband the promise of the future- the joy of our first baby - the joy of our first home- our first kitchen table so I could cook him fabulous food and show him how worthy I was-it's not that the joy is gone- it's just different-it's not our turn anymore to be in that space we're in a differnt one now-now it's just memories- which in the end is all we have-our adventures and our stories which I have alot-and thank God I had a wonderful family growning up with nothing to crush and sadden me and make me bitter as I get old-my mom is like a angel and my dad is funny and outgoing at 75 he plays golf and still sails-looks like a hip california dude-my maiden name is Christiansen so we are nordic-it's funny we have a joke my dad and I-if something gets trying we just say carry on because were vikings we can handle it-we joke around all the time- I noticed we also honeymooned in Tahiti, Moorea our friends have lived there for 40 years and we've visited them twice- I so love it down there so beautiful-the more remote and less people the more I love it- I also went on a moped like you-we swam with the sharks on a shark expedition-I love to make cakes with fondant like you do, which I have to say your cakes are beautiful-we just got a fabulous dog from the pound and her two pups that were homeless and the dog looks just like your dog-I can't believe the color the almond shaped eyes- and I loved the video on the birds-I've always wondered how they get down if they can't fly- thank you now I know-just jump with no fear of the landing Wow!and I know the KoOlina we had reservations to stay there two summers ago and we never got there we stayed in Kauai-but I wanted to swim in the lagoons-so if we ever do go there which we will I'd like to buy a cake from you for my family as a surprize-It's really late now and I can't see straight so thanks for sharing your life- keep building your wonderful memories together-were lucky people-take care and enjoy fab Hawaii Aloha -Cathy O I hope I send this right I've never done it.
